Eximius comes Early? Bad even for me right?

Somehow I have completely missed Eximius Seize the Frontline, I mean I guess it is easy with so many titles out there either released or in early access it is easy to miss a title or 10 but this on irritates me as it has a major part of the game set as an RTS and you know I love me some RTS action.

Eximius is a hybrid RTS/FPS and it looks interesting, even to someone like me who is not a PVP gamer, that said the game offers PVE Online, PVP Online and Offline play, see why I am interested now? Even being able to play the RTS mode in PVP is something I am up for, down for, whatever the current direction is, anyway check out the trailer, I’ll wait.

Every once in a while I stumble on something out of the blue, at least for me, it smacks me in the face and screams ‘WHY DIDN’T YOU LKNOW ABOUT ME RAZ!’, well Eximius is this weeks title to do so, it was in early access but has just been released as 1.0, well on March 16th and so a renewed campaign to review the game and introduce it to more players was announced and this is how it slapped me in the face, metaphorically speaking I mean if games went around actually doing that sort of thing it, well it would be weird.

First person is where the officers play in tactical FPS gameplay, the game is 5v5, 4 in FPS and 1 RTS commander. The commander orders troops about buids basses and advances the tech tree aiming

No matter which mode you are playing you are in a, I qoute, ‘competitive 5v5 team battle where players square off in a post apocalyptic urban environment’. As you can see from the the environment images below, it looks both apocalyptic and beautiful, like me in the mornings only less beauty and more apocalypse…so nothing like me then really.

HAving now played the game as both commander and Officer, this is not going to surprise anyone, but I prefer the commander as it is RTS, fun and interesting.

You start in first person which seems daft to me as you just hide in the to do your work, so they could have just had it so certain nodes get attacked and destroyed severing your connection or the more nodes severed the weaker the base and you get until it is destroyed as are you.

Once you have hidden you press ‘Q’ and jump into a standard RTS view, once here you can create building and units, all pretty standard. You can attach these units as support to players if you are inline or the AI if you are in Skirmish Mode.

Honestly is pretty damn fun, you can play offline with AI, you can play Co-Op Online and in PVP so is has a healthy set of option depending how you want to play and as I have given just a quick rundown there is plenty more to discover so go jump in and check it out.
